Study With UsThe Department of Geology and Geological Engineering offers unparalleled opportunities for field- and laboratory-based instruction and research in economic geology and related fields. The following three graduate degree programs are offered:
- Professional Master in Mineral Exploration Degree Program [link]
- Master of Science Degree Program [link]
- Doctor of Philosophy Degree Program [link].
The non-thesis Professional Master in Mineral Exploration Degree Program is designed primarily for working professionals who want to increase their knowledge and skills, while gaining a thorough up-date of advances across the spectrum of economic geology, mineral exploration techniques, and mining geosciences. This degree program can be completed in one academic year of full-time study or two years of part-time study.
Graduate students whishing to conduct research should enroll in the Master of Science or the Doctor of Philosophy Degree Programs. Both programs require graduate course work and the completion of an appropriate research thesis. The Master of Science program comprises two years of full-time study while a Doctor in Philosophy can be obtained over a period of three to four years of full-time study. Graduate student research projects in economic geology, igneous and metamorphic petrology, geochemistry, structural geology, mineralogy, and physical volcanology are conducted in diverse geological environments and virtually in all parts of the world.
